Michael Batchelor
Michael was educated in Christchurch before attending Auckland University College where he graduated Bachelor of Laws in 1958. He has practiced continually in Tauranga since then. After over 40 years in partnership with a leading Tauranga firm, he commenced his present consultancy with Lyon O'Neale Arnold in 2003.
Previously specialising in local government law, Michael acted for many years for several local authorities. He was involved in most of the major Council projects such as the Harbour Bridge, Waikareao Expressway and Route J, Tauranga Airport re-development, Strand parking reclamation, expansion of city boundaries in 1961 and 1967, development of urban road pattern at Otumoetai and Matua and local government re-organisation in 1989. These days Michael works generally in land subdivision and property.
As a yachtsman, he has a strong marine law interest and acts for marina Societies and the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat club. He also acts for Maori Trusts and a Tauranga iwi society. He is a member of the Tauranga Sunrise Rotary Club.
