Denise Arnold
Denise Arnold a Tauranga girl through and through, her final secondary schooling was at Otumoetai College. Denise graduated from Auckland University in 1988 with a law degree. She immediately commenced work with Mike O'Neale and Doug Lyon and on admission to the bar in 1989 was employed as a solicitor with the then Dowd Thomason Strachan and Moultrie. After her admission Denise commenced studying a Diploma of Business Studies through Massey University which included employment law, management and accounting.
Denise was appointed an associate of the firm in 1991 and a Partner in 1996. On the restructure of the firm and the birth of Lyon O'Neale Arnold Lawyers Limited in 2003, Denise continued in partnership with Doug Lyon and Mike O'Neale.
Denise's practice encompasses property and conveyancing, business development and structuring, commercial law, tax structures, trusts and asset planning. Her biggest professional challenges have been the floating of one of her largest corporate clients which involved issuing a prospectus and managing the subscription to shares; the purchase, development merger and later sale of a fully integrated transport and tourism business in the South Island which involved ferries, accommodation and retail; and the ongoing development and property issues in the Bay involving shareholders agreements and business structures.
On a personal level her biggest challenge was presenting a paper on "The Sale and Purchase of Businesses" to the New Zealand Law Society Biannual Law Conference in the Auckland Town Hall in 2003.
Denise loves living in Tauranga and raising her family here with access to the beach, ski fields and bush walks. She enjoys sailing, tramping, quilting and other crafts and has a private pilots license.
